Raw Groat-Meal: Two Ways!

May 1, 2012 in breakfast , Sweets and Treats

Every now and then we break paleo protocol with this yummy, any time of the day treat!

Raw grOat Meal!

I am all about using whatever ingredients you have in the house to make things work…

I typically use dates in my groatmeal, but I didn’t t have any dates yesterday, so I improvised.

It worked well. Very very well!

• Pour groats into large bowl, cover completely in warm water, add two tablespoons lemon juice, and soak overnight.

Drain well.

Preparation One:

• Add half the groats (about 3.5 cups) to food processor.

• Add 6 dates (soaked in warm water for 30 minutes to soften if you have time)

• Add one heaping tablespoon cinnamon.

Blend.

Repeat with remaining groats.

Preparation Two (I now prefer this way):

• Add half the groats (about 3.5 cups) to food processor.

• Add 1/4 cup grade B real Maple Syrup

• Add 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

• Add one heaping tablespoon cinnamon.

Blend.

Repeat with remaining groats.

Serve with almond milk, nuts of your choice, and fruit.

Enjoy!!
